Meet Lorenzo Gomez, executive director of the 80/20 Foundation and CEO of Geekdom, a collaborative co-working technology center in downtown San Antonio.
A native to Alamo City, Lorenzo grew up in a large family where he learned life values of working hard and choosing friends wisely. He’s always looked forward to reading books, learning new concepts and attempting to execute those concepts in the real world. He credits his passion for learning and strong family values to the success of his career.
When he started his career at Rackspace, Gomez had the unique opportunity to share a cube and work alongside Rackspace CEO and Chairman Graham Weston. Ten years later Gomez would join Weston to help launch a new tech venture, Geekdom, an incubator for the technology industry in San Antonio.
Geekdom is the place where start-ups are born. It’s a new kind of collaborative environment where entrepreneurs, technologists, developers, makers and creatives inspire and help each other build businesses while connecting with a community of like-minded people.
Geekdom has had a tremendous effect on our community, serving as a catalyst and igniting the city’s technology industry while attracting new talent. Geekdom and its members are pioneers in building a new kind of city around ideas and innovation and they are creating great opportunities for entrepreneurs and tech workers locally.
At Cadillac, we celebrate those whose passion and vision have reshaped our city, our lives and our culture - including Gomez’s creative and innovative spirit.
His passion makes him one of the original and driving persons shaping San Antonio.
